I've sprung a leak!

In our marriage, we have discussions, not arguments. And I have to say that humor is a big help to any discussion we may have. Humor, when used appropriately, just simply pokes a hole in the tension and lets the useless parts of the issue drain away. What's left is the real issue and even more so, a clear view of the other's heart-- uncluttered with projections, assumptions and interpretations.

The key is "when used appropriately"!

There is a verse in Proverbs that compares a nagging wife to a constant drip, a.k.a. a leaky faucet. If I am crossing some emotional lines, Cameron simply has to smile and say "drip...drip...drip...". Add to that a little wink, and nothing more needs to be said. Sounds trite and simplistic - but it works for us.

It helps that I melt when he winks.
